For Coaches

We value the hard working managers and coaches in Grass Roots Football and the developing coaches in the professional game.

Thank you to everyone who attended our recent sessions for local coaches of youth football that launched this programme. It was a pleasure for us to spend time with people just as passionate about football development as us!

More about these sessions

Each 2-hour-plus session showed attendees age-related Possession Practicepractices and small-sided games which enhance play enjoyment and learning. We presented ideas on how to improve and encourage players and showed how to implement the coaches thoughts on the game.

To the right are just a few examples of the types of practices we delivered and explained, attendees received a reference manual of the sessions to take away with them.

Some comments from coaches that attended:Possession Practice

“Thanks for last night – it was very useful to see some new stuff and observe how you work with the lads.

Dynamic, Energetic, Adaptive, Demanding are some of the words that come to mind.Possession Practice

It was a good standard of playing and excellent coaching.”

- Peter Berry, Baldock Town Youth FC

“First of all thank you for putting on the coaching course last Monday.

It was an extremely informative and useful evening and I have already used aspects of the night with my lads.

As mentioned, I found the evening very worthwhile and will be discussing this / handing out the leaflets at our next monthly meeting in a couple of weeks. Without doubt, all our coaches would have benefited from coming on Monday.”

- Adrian Pinney, Bedford Town Youth FC

“Thanks for a great evening of coaching last night. I hope I have remembered as much as possible to put into practise in the coming weeks.

If you are putting on any further coaching sessions please keep me informed”

- Jon Gordon, Northwood Youth U/14s

“I would like to thank both of you for the excellent evening at Baldock on Monday.

I found the course thorough and very informative and provided me with lots of ideas, some of which I used the following day. I thought the pace of the evening was good, the variety of material excellent matched by the good quality of coaching and I would recommend Forward Football strongly.”

- Dave Mosley, Youth Coach
